The largest coffee shop brand in the world, Starbucks, opened its second store in Jalisco operated by Mexican senior citizens.

After a gradual transition of the previous workforce, the store located at Avenida Guadalupe 1550, Chapalita Oriente, in the municipality of Zapopan, will be operated by a group of 14 senior adult partners between 52 and 66 years of age.

Thus, grandparents such as Gustavo Blanco Gómez, who dedicated much of his life to sales, or Dulce Serrano, who worked in the administrative area of several companies, may have contact with different people every day, acquire new knowledge, learn from the coffee world and make lots of new friends.
It is the second place in Mexico operated entirely by seniors; the first was opened on August  last year, in Mexico City. It is an alliance between Starbucks and the National Institute for Older Adults (INAPAM) to promote the labor inclusion of senior citizens, creating the necessary opportunities for them to have better levels of well-being and quality of life.

“Creating opportunities through our employment programs is at the heart of the brand. We have managed to be the first work experience for 80% of our partners because we bet on them and design a career plan for each person. And we also bet on seniors who want to continue their career in Starbucks, “said Diana Gonzalez, head of Human Resources at Starbucks Mexico in a statement.

The purpose of Starbucks is to provide employment to 120 seniors by the end of 2019, while maintaining the population of this age range economically active throughout the Mexican Republic.
