San Miguel de Allende Gto.- The shortage of gasoline has affected the daily activities in the city and the whole municipality.

Ten days have passed since San Miguel residents have not been able to stock up on gasoline, they have been forced to make long lines on the stations that only open for a few hours and close again due to lack of supply.

This situation has worsened this week when thousands of students have returned to school.

“We have to ration every liter of gasoline we can get to take the children to school and pick them up, go to our work and do any other activities.” A resident from the Mexiquito neighborhood declared in an interview.

Of the municipalities in the north of the state of Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende is one of the most affected by the lack of fuel, due to the flow of visitors and the tourism activity that characterizes the city.

SMA locals live with the uncertainty of not knowing when they will be able to buy gasoline.

Agricultural activity has been affected too, especially for the organic gardens that provide restaurants and other businesses such as “Mercado Sano”, sometimes they have to store their products for more than twelve hours while they wait for gasoline to be supplied at the gas stations.

With the announcement by governor Diego Sinhue that Pemex will be providing 11,000 barrels of gasoline to the state on a daily basis, it is expected that the situation will gradually return to normal.
