Industrial park in Guanajuato fined with 100,000 pesos for cutting palm trees

The Tecnoindustrial Castro del Río park will have to pay a fine of 100 thousand pesos for cutting down 75 palm trees in the green areas within the complex. The Department of the Environment demands the repair of the damage that can be compensated by the reforestation of trees or conservation works equivalent to the damage. The park will have 30 business days to comply with the sanctions.

“A sanction has already been applied to the Castro del Río industrial park last week, they had to pay 100,000 pesos,” said Gonzalo Guerrero Guerrero, director of Environment, explaining that the Tecnoparque’s headquarters located on the road that connects Irapuato with León, were sanctioned for the removal of 75 palm trees from the green areas in the aforementioned industrial park.

In addition to the fine, the park must also repair the damage within a period no longer than 30 days.

“We are in the compliance part of the damage repair. One of the options that the Department of Environment will offer to the park is the reforestation of 75 shrubs. Right now we are defining what they will specifically do as a measure of substitute compensation, we are talking about actions that are focused on environmental improvement.”
