No to areas in this country are entirely alike. Cities, towns, and suburbs all vary from one another in a multitude of ways, but some areas seem to maintain a higher reputation than others. Los Angeles is one such city, coveted for its close ties to Hollywood, sunny beaches, and progressive attitudes.
The luxury apartments in San Francisco are also a highly coveted area, but Los Angeles continues to take the spotlights for non-California locals. So, what is it really like to live in LA?
It Isn’t Just City
Picturing LA usually involves bustling streets and towering buildings, but many forget the picturesque mountains in the background. You can easily take a day trip to amazing hiking trails, the desert, or scenic forests. It’s a nice escape from hectic life in the city, offering the best of both worlds in one location.
Food Variety
There are thousands of food trucks in Los Angeles offering any type of cuisine imaginable. You could enjoy some sloppy street tacos or pick up a high-end swordfish meal within the same block. Best of all, the convenience of food trucks allows you to grab your meal on the go while walking around the city.
Quality Apartments, Sometimes
Like a lot of cities, Los Angeles has some incredible apartments. You can find a lot of not-so-great ones as well, but the popularity of this area has brought in a wave of new luxury apartments that are surprisingly affordable given their amenities. Check these out for more information.
A Healthy Mindset
People tend to be healthier in Los Angeles for a few reasons. For starters, it’s an easily walkable place. Then there are the bounty of outdoor opportunities available with weather that’s more than accommodating.
More importantly, healthy food options are everywhere. There’s still greasy fast food, of course, but the number of nutritious and low-carb options far outweighs the bad ones.
Employability
This city is a hub for long-standing businesses as well as startups, offering an immense variety of jobs for the people that live there. In fact, it’s hard to find someone who only works one job. They might have a career most days, then pursue their passion through a more open gig on the side. This diversity makes life more interesting but also offers you plenty of career freedom.
Diverse People
Like most cities, LA is a mixing pot of all sorts of people. You’ll find numerous cultures, languages, and ethnicities all wrapped into one anywhere you go. That also means a ton of regional cuisine as well as more open attitudes when it comes to accepting others.
Celebrities
Believe it or not, you will see celebrities around town when moving to LA. People run into numerous stars in coffee shops, at farmers markets, and even just on the street. It’s such a common occurrence that you’ll actually get used to it after a while.
Keep in mind, though, that not all of them are eager to stop what they’re doing and chat with a fan. Plenty are, but it’s easy to forget that they’re regular people as well after the camera stops rolling.
