Lady Gaga is celebrating her 33rd birthday surrounded by pals in Cabo San Lucas, the Mexican resort city that’s proved one of the singer’s favorite vacation destinations.
“Gaga flew to Mexico earlier this week to celebrate her birthday with close friends. She likes to recharge in Cabo and often visits,” a source tells PEOPLE. “The group has a private chef and has mostly been hanging out by the pool. She has a private dinner planned for her birthday.”
Gaga, who turned 33 on Thursday, frequently visits the vacation hotspot, jetting off to Cabo in February, and notably in 2016, when she visited a local orphanage and sang a stripped-down version of her hit “Born This Way.”
She was in Cabo for Valentine’s Day this year, which came just days before news broke that she had called it quits with fiancé Christian Carino.

She also confirmed earlier this month that she’s hard at work on an upcoming album.
“Rumors I’m pregnant? Yeah, I’m pregnant with #LG6,” she wrote on Twitter March 12.
The record will be Gaga’s sixth studio album and the follow-up to 2016’s Joanne, which topped the Billboard charts and spawned hit singles like “Million Reasons.”
