Experience Semana Santa in SMA (Video)

Eileen Aldis is travelling around the world as a nomad. She left her apartment, bought a one way ticket, and she doesn’t have a plan!

Semana Santa (Holy Week) is a very special time in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

For hundreds of years, this city has honoured tradition in the most beautiful and dedicated way. The streets are decorated with flowers, balloons, archways, and candles as a procession is made from Atotonilco, a town twelve kilometres away, to a church in San Miguel de Allende.

Thousands of people participate and observe this tradition each year and I feel privileged to have seen it. In this travel vlog, I share the preparations of the night before, which continue all through the night, and the procession itself, as the community gathers to carry a symbol of Christ through the streets.
