Revision: Applying Practical Magic to Poetry and Prose
You’ve written your first, second or third draft. What’s next? In this one-day revision workshop you will explore the practical magic of applying a variety of tips, tools, and techniques to polish your writing.
The primary focus of this workshop is self-editing rather than generating new writing. Participants will be asked to bring two printed copies of three short (one or two pages) works in progress to improve through revision. The more time has passed since you wrote them, the better.
We will discuss ways to prepare a manuscript for submission to a professional editor and a list of literary journals. We will review the seven deadly sins of self-editing and the merits of submitting work to writing contests.
