Intense hailstorm hits San Miguel!

An intense hailstorm that started on the evening of Sunday June 30th, and did not stop until the early morning hours of Monday July 1st, covered the streets of San Miguel de Allende, in white, in a totally unusual event for the month of July. So far no victims have been reported.

In some areas, water and hail reached up to 50 centimeters in height.


Through his Twitter account, Luis Alberto Villarreal, municipal president of San Miguel de Allende, reported:

Since yesterday, the Ministry of Public Security, Municipal Transit and Civil Protection work to safeguard the integrity of all San Miguel people after the rain and hail storm that occurred during the night. Any emergency please report it to 911.

Local media reports that some affected neighborhoods are Aurora, Guadalupe, Los Santos Fraccionamiento, San Antonio and La Luciérnaga plaza.

Local residents, taxi drivers, firefighters, Civil Protection agents and police officers helped to rescue people trapped inside vehicles in certain parts of the city.
