Famous Mexican video-game enthusiast Gus Rodríguez passed away

Gus Rodrigues, a famous Mexican actor, screenwriter, producer, gamer and video game journalist passed away recently due to Lung Cancer. Gus has been fighting with cancer since October of last year. Many fans were devastated by the news, considering that Gus Rodriguez was the face of the entire gaming community in Mexico. He was the first one to introduce the concept of video game journalism in Latin America, bringing the community together, creating a lot of TV shows and different news outlets for those who loved gaming just as much as him.

Gus has been doing this for a long time, founding his biggest project, Club Nintendo almost 30 years ago. Gus Rodgriguez and his friend, Jose Sierra founded one of the most important video game magazines, a concept completely alien to Mexico at the time.

Gaming Pioneer

All the major gaming outlets paid their tributes to the famed gaming enthusiasts, thanking him for elevating the gaming scene in the country with his innovative and engaging ideas that brought so much joy to people over the decades.

Despite being a huge gaming fan he also took the Mexican TV and movie scene by storm and was an industry favorite throughout the years.

He worked closely with a Mexican comedian, Eugenio Derbez and together they created a lot of iconic tv shows, like Derbez En Cuando, XHDerbez and La Familia Peluche. He was constantly involved in the entertainment industry and managed to excel at everything he touched. He was a gaming fanatic and was a huge influence on the community in Mexico, which is why his death affected so many people around Latin America.

He helped popularize video gaming in Mexico, brought the gaming community together and introduced much memorable high quality shows to make sure that his favorite pastime, gaming, always got the spotlight it deserved. His TV shows that don’t necessarily center around the gaming community or games were also wildly funny and still have a cult following. Gus Rodgriguez was a great example of a multitalented and proactive person that definitely left his mark on many people and his projects, like Nintendomania and Club Nintendo will always be regarded as pioneering gaming entertainment across Mexico, which is a pretty big deal
