Guanajuato, Guanajuato.- In the 23rd edition of the Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF), the Presa de la Olla will be used as a floating cinema.
According to municipal official Karen Burstein, it is expected to adapt the reservoir to be able to screen films that viewers will enjoy from boats.
Burstein will work hand in hand with Sarah Hoch, director of the festival to comply with all health measures.
Burstein, also president of the Tourism Commission, declined in her request to financially support GIFF with one million pesos due to the economic deficit the administration is facing.
However, she seeks to reach an agreement with the service providers to make use of the 36 boats that they rent and set up the floating cinema called “Acuacinema.”
The Acuacinema is planned to offer three to four shows a day with diverse films for all ages, as part of the closing of the festival that was also affected by the pandemic.
The 23rd edition of GIFF will take place from September 18 to 27, with presence in the cities of San Miguel de Allende, Silao, Irapuato, and Guanajuato capital, where the closing ceremony is expected to take place on September 27th.
