The square of Cuna de Allende and Cuadrante shows off a huge brass star, made by San Miguel artisans; in this place were the tables of the Café De Santos used to be placed during the administration of former mayor Villarreal, and now withdrawn by the government of Mauricio Trejo.

This brass star is very representative of San Miguel crafts and it is normal to see them on the Christmas tree that is placed in the center of the city during the holiday season.
Until two months ago, this square was occupied by tables and chairs from the De Santos restaurant, owned by the husband of the former Director of Culture, Paulina Cadena Gallardo. The cafe was closed, and the tables were removed from that part of the sidewalk. However, today the Café is open to the public again.
Previously, the mayor ordered flower pots to be placed so that tour buses could not park, this place was used for the ascent and descent of passengers.
By agreement with the city council, now the Turibuses have to pick up and leave people in El Cardo, despite the fact that it has a protection that locates the start and endpoint of the route precisely on Juárez street.
The government of San Miguel de Allende closed two downtown establishments for non-compliance with land use and lack of sanitary measures. Among them, Café de Santos stands out, owned by the family of the former Director of Culture, Paulina Cadena.
The Café de Santos, located on Cuna de Allende Street, was accused of “appropriating the public space in front of it to serve its customers.” This was reported in an official statement issued by the municipal government.
