It’s official, SMA and Aspen, Colorado are now Twin Cities

With the signature of the municipal president Mauricio Trejo, San Miguel de Allende and Aspen, Colorado are now Sister Cities.

This twinning is based on three fundamental axes: the cultural link, the artistic promotion of their talents, the economic boost in the area of real estate, and the strengthening of romance tourism; In this sense, San Miguel and Aspen agreed on a preferential exchange of cultural and artistic guilds and activities, as well as a dual education that focuses on bilateral training to improve practices, expand knowledge of both destinations and provide better life experiences to their tourists.

This bet on cultural and artistic issues between both tourist destinations found a special connection with this twinning. On the one hand, San Miguel is known worldwide for its history, its cultural and artistic richness as a World Heritage City, being “The Best Wedding Destination in Mexico” and sheltering a large American population in its territory.

Before the formalization of this bilateral agreement, President Mauricio Trejo led the start of the Aspen Jazz Festival as a sponsor and main promoter of dual tourism between both cities. This working tour began with a meeting with the Aspen Chamber of Resorts Association (ACRA) in which a Common Front was agreed upon in favor of tourist service unions and the exchange of tourists who have in common.

This trade agreement was followed by a diplomatic meeting between Mayor Mauricio Trejo and Aspen Mayor Ronald Wayne, where the artistic and cultural ties between both cities were reinforced, highlighting the mutual knowledge to promote their traditions, customs, and local festivities and strengthen the flow of tourists in low seasons and solve common problems in high seasons by sharing “good practices” and adapting them to their tourism strategies.

With the Twinning between San Miguel de Allende and Aspen, the municipal representative Mauricio Trejo manages to strengthen government relations, joining forces with the US business sector and creating solid ties of coincidence with this cultural benchmark city of Colorado.
