The director of the Women’s Institute reported that in the last year they attended 16 thousand women who came to seek help or advice.
Through the Municipal Institute for Women’s Care (IMAM), this sector of the San Miguel population was prioritized by the municipality.
The objective is to ensure their well-being, improve their quality of life and offer the necessary tools and support so that they have an environment of peace and tranquility.
“I want to reiterate the commitment of this administration, to fight, protect, help and give a better quality of life to the women of San Miguel ,” said the trustee Faviola Correa.
She also said that she is pleased to see that this institute has been transformed into a family where all women feel supported.
The IMAM report on the work carried out during 2022 was made.
Prioritize women in San Miguel de Allende
The head of the institute, Rosana Patlán, assured that there are significant advances in this matter and that violence against women has been reduced.
“The women are accepting that violence is not normal and they are making it clear that they want to end this and in this way they manifest it: taking care of themselves emotionally. Going to the government authorities to exercise her rights and say: stop the violence”, she highlighted.
He assured that more than 16,000 women have been treated at the IMAM .
“This is a wonderful number, because obviously every day more and more women really want to improve their quality of life,” she added.
Likewise, Patlán emphasized that the change of the facilities was very important because they already have identified a space.
“We hope that this 2023 comes loaded with all the positive and well-being, abundance and harmony, for all the families and women of San Miguel ,” he mentioned.
Rosana Patlán highlighted that actions were generated to make violence against women visible within families.
IMAM opening hours are extended
Likewise, the hours of attention were extended to every day of the week.
During this 2022, he indicated that the IMAM has also channeled more than 500 women to the competent authorities; 101 before the Guanajuato State Attorney General’s Office (FGEG) where more than 700 complaints have been received for different types of gender violence.
Before there were only 59 patients, but during 2022 the IMAM emotionally cared for more than 4,000 women, of which 317 are from indigenous communities.
10,820 women have participated in courses, training, talks, physical activations and other services that the IMAM has offered throughout the year.
