San Miguel commemorates the 254 anniverssary of Don Ignacio Allende’s birth

San Miguel de Allende.- To commemorate the 254 anniverssary of Ignacio Allende’s birth, the Municipal Administration has prepared a cultural program. It will take place from Monday, January 16 to Saturday, January 21st; on another anniversary of the birth of the Prodigal Son of Saint Michael .

Municipal administration will pay tribute

The various expressions of the San Miguel people will begin this Monday, January 16. First with the raising of the flag and presentation of Allende’s biography, on the esplanade of the Municipal Presidency at 9 in the morning. On Tuesday the 17th at 6 in the afternoon, the Mazatl ballet will be presented in the Principal Garden with « Mexico beyond folklore ».

On Wednesday the 18th at 7 pm, the main garden will have the presentation of music and dance with mariachi ” México Mágico “. The following day, Thursday 19, also at 7 pm, the musical band ” Música Taurina ” will perform als a the “Jardín“.

Cultural agenda

One of the most deeply rooted traditions in the festivities in honor of the Eponymous Hero of San Miguel is the ” Torch Parade “, where a contingent will go down from El Mirador to Casa de Allende, commemorating with a performance the uprising of the Insurgent Army led by Allende y Unzaga together with the priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. 

As part of this cultural program, the agenda for Saturday, January 21, stands out, the day Allende y Unzaga saw the light of day for the first time 254 years ago, with a mass in the parish of San Miguel Arcángel, to later carry out a public event in the Civic Square and then the Military and Civic Parade, where a large contingent will march from Calzada de la Aurora to the Main Square.

Allende’s Birthday will end with a concert by the National Defense Secretariat Militar Band in the Main Garden at 6 in the afternoon and later that night, the commemorative festivities will close with a great fireworks display.

Reinforcing pride, identity and belonging, the Municipal Administration honors the memory of Don Ignacio de Allende y Unzaga, since his legacy has made the people of San Miguel live better every day.
