9 days of blues, jazz and art kick off at the San Miguel Art Festival

San Miguel de Allende.- On Thursday, January 12th, the cultural festival began in Soma District Gastronomy and Design Center, which brings blues, jazz, and artistic exhibitions for 9 days.

It is the second edition of the contemporary art fair in San Miguel de Allende, called ART San.

The direction of this project is in charge of the painter and curator Ana Julia Aguado. This managed to bring contemporary art from Mexico, the United States, Canada, Spain, Germany and Panama.

The fair will have the participation of artists such as Fernando Garrido, National Art Award 2022; Vladimir Cora, National Art Award 2022; by the guest country, Germany. There will be the work of Otto Dix, Max Liebermann, Ernst Barlach, Käthe Kollwitz, Gerhard Marcks, Emil Nolde and George Grosz. These are the representatives of the avant-garde circles of German influence and, in the most relevant cases, expressionist groups, thanks to the collaboration with the Sthepan Schroer collection recently presented at the Museo Nacional de la Estampa in CDMX.

Taller 30 is also integrated. They are artists whose work integrates art, technology, science, sound and design, as well as the galleries Ana Julia Aguado Fine Art, Galería Intersección and Galería Noel Cayetano among others.

Along with this art fair, there will be a series of stellar jazz concerts, under the direction of maestro Antonio Lozoya, director of the Jazz Fest SMA, AC Foundation. In addition to the exhibition and sale of works of art and concerts. This event will offer complementary activities in order to enrich the project and create a unique experience: such as conferences, book presentations, and performances.

Everything will take place at the Soma District Gastronomy and Design Center, very close to La Estación square. The hours will be from 11:00 in the morning to 6:00 in the afternoon, from January 13 to 22.

Local artists such as Keith Miller, Ri Anderson, Edward Swift, Alexander Engel, Claudia Pérez Pavón, Marilo Carral, Juan Ezcurdia, Elsa de la Garza, from New York participate in the work of renowned photographer Spencer Tunick, painter Lawrence Selevan, and multimedia artist Zoe Siegel, among others.
