Project to take tourists by bus to the center of San Miguel is cut short

The buses purchased in the administration of Luis Alberto Villareal are used only in special events

San Miguel de Allende .- The buses that the administration of Luis Alberto Villareal acquired  to transport people from the Tourist Service Center to the center of the city are not being used for this purpose these days.

They are part of the Transportation department and are used only for special events, such as transporting visitors to the fair from communities or taking sports teams to competitions.

Those vehicles were part of the mobility plan designed by former mayor Villarreal García.

Those buses would leave the building that was called the Visitor Service Center, they would travel along the Paseo de Los conspiradores , the Salida Real a Querétaro to the center of the city.

But today neither the buses nor the building have that use.

The plan was for visitors to leave their vehicles in one of the 1,100 parking spaces and ride one of the buses down to the city center.

Tourists would pay a cost and locals a preferential rate.

The objective was to lower the number of vehicles circulating in the center of the city.

The visitor service center cost 39 million pesos together with the mega parking lot.

That building today houses the Municipal Institute for Women’s Care and the Municipal Planning Institute of San Miguel de Allende .
