Jalisco, Mexico – In April of 2018, the Mexican Government decreed that “National Tequila Day” would be celebrated every year on the third Saturday of March.

This year’s celebration, set to take place from March 11 to March 18, will be bigger and better than ever, with all kinds of activities, such as tequila tastings, cocktail contests, art exhibits, concerts and more, offered in several cities around the state, including the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area and Puerto Vallarta.

“What we want is for Tequila Day to commemorate the drink that is the heritage of all of us; It is the first denomination of origin in México and we want people to have this pride in the Mexican drink,” said the president of the National Chamber of the Tequila Industry, Luis Fernando Felix.

At the Puerto Vallarta International Airport there will be a gallery of agave-inspired art works by Juan Carlos Santoscoy and an exhibition of beautiful Tequila bottles from a variety of distilleries from March 11 to March 18. At the same time, a bottle exhibition will also greet passengers at the Guadalajara airport, but visitors to Jalisco’s Capitol City will have to wait until 7 pm on March 16 to see Juan Carlos Santoscoy’s works, which will be on display at Arcos de Guadalajara.

On Saturday, March 18, National Tequila Day, there will be a huge celebration in downtown Guadalajara with Folkloric dancers, video mapping and many other family-friendly activities celebrating Mexico’s national drink at the Palacio Municipal.

Since seven out of ten tourists visit Jalisco for its tequila culture, municipalities such as Tequila and Jamay will join in the festivities, with photo opportunities and tequilas tastings, among other activities. In total, there will be 25 cultural activities, 7 exhibitions, 11 concerts, and 4 theatrical presentations during the week-long Tequila Week 2023 celebration.
