40 thousand people witness Holy Burial in San Miguel de Allende

San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.- The traditional procession of the Holy Burial brought together 40,000 people in the center of the city, who witnessed the solemnity and liturgy of this act that has been guarded by the city’s traditionalists.

It was the 310th edition of this procession that frames Holy Week. It had more than 2,200 participants, who represent the act of burying the body of Christ taken down from the cross and the devotion of the people of San Miguel for accompanying the Blessed Virgin at her moment of greatest pain.

With respect and solemnity, thousands of people lived their faith and observed the craft details of the venerated images, the elegance of the participants, the flowers, the metallic ornaments, and the lighted lanterns, all wrapped in the smell of incense, with the parish of San Michael the Archangel as a witness.

Spectators filled Pepe Llanos, Mesones, Juárez, San Francisco, and Hidalgo streets, and as the procession passed, they sang traditional songs to finally end up in the Oratory Temple.
