AMLO aims for fair treatment of animals

This Monday, July 31st, President López Obrador pledged to send a proposal to the Congress of the Union to decree a day dedicated to raising national awareness about the fair treatment of animals.

“We are going to respond to the request to have a day dedicated to humane and fair treatment of animals. I believe that we must continue to raise awareness that animals should not be mistreated,” he stated during a press conference.

On June 25th, citizens marched against animal abuse, and Amlo stated that he agrees with the idea of people expressing themselves on that date “to defend animals.”

“I commit to having it established in legislation, and I promise to send the proposal to Congress,” he said.
