Civil protection closes Marriott Hotel in San Miguel after the death of a worker

After the death of one of its workers, the Marriott hotel work was closed by Civil Protection as it did not have adequate safety measures to carry out the construction works.

On Tuesday, January 23rd, a person who died due to an apparent accidental death inside a construction on Josefina Orozco Street, on the corner with Exit to Celaya, right in front of the La Casona convention center, was reported to the emergency center.

The C4 Operations Center activated both the Municipal Police, the Civil Protection Directorate, as well as the city’s emergency agencies, when the report was confirmed.

The municipal government reported that by the intervention of the Civil Protection personnel, the closure of the work in progress (the construction of the Marriott hotel) was determined, “since the property does not have adequate security measures to carry out the construction works,” announced the municipal government. Consequently, closure seals were placed at the entrances to this property.

The deceased was a construction worker originally from Michoacán who fell from a ladder from a height of approximately 5 meters.
