Four arrested and two wounded left an intense shootout on the borders between Guanajuato and Querétaro to dismantle a transport robbery gang that operated in San Miguel de Allende.
A series of stones placed on the highway that connects San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, with Querétaro, caused motorists to report to the authorities the presence of a criminal group dedicated to the theft of private transportation which ended in a car chase and shootout during early this Friday morning.
Several travelers had to wait the hours that the highway remained closed to continue on their way, since at the border with Querétaro two people were left lying injured by firearms.
According to information released by the municipal president of San Miguel de Allende, Mauricio Trejo Pureco , they received citizen complaints warning of the presence of several men throwing stones at cars and placing them on the road to force drivers to get off and then commit thefts.
Upon arriving at the area of the complaint, the agents of the Secretary of Public Security detected several subjects aboard a red vehicle, however, when they signaled to stop, they fled towards Querétaro.
During the chase, the alleged thieves began to shoot at the police , which led to an intense shootout as part of the response of the uniformed officers: in the end they managed to arrest four men , two of them injured by firearm projectiles, so They were transferred to hospitals in the region to treat their injuries.
The detainees were identified as Luis Roberto “N” (injured), with 19 records of administrative offenses; Filemón “N”, with two arrests for crimes against health and a criminal process (, Carlos Miguel “N”, with three arrests for administrative offenses; and Abraham “N” (detained), without previous arrests.
Violence hits Guanajuato
Guanajuato, the most violent state in the country, registered 45 intentional homicides during the last week, with Tuesday, February 6, being the day with the highest number of crimes when 13 murders were documented, according to information from the National Security Commission (CNS).
One of the last multiple crimes occurred in the Jardines de San Miguel neighborhood, in León, Guanajuato , where three young people were executed in a home that was set up as a barbershop. Two armed individuals entered and shot four people who were in the premises: two brothers and a friend lost their lives and a minor who survived the attack was taken to a hospital in the region.
