Tequisquiapan is a fantastic Magic Town one hour away from San Miguel

Tequisquiapan is a charming town in the state of Querétaro, Mexico, that attracts visitors with its colonial architecture, vineyards, cheese production, handicrafts, and natural hot springs. It is one of the designated pueblos mágicos, or magical towns, of Mexico, for its cultural and historical significance.

The town’s center is known as the Hidalgo Square, where the Santa María de la Asunción Church stands out with its pink sandstone facade and neoclassical style. Around the square, there are many restaurants, cafes, art galleries, and shops selling local specialties such as sweets, silver, opal, baskets, and furniture. The square also hosts live music and performances, especially during festivals and holidays.

There are several spas and water parks in and around the town, where visitors can enjoy swimming pools, water slides, hydro pools, waterfalls, and massages. Some of the most popular ones are El Oasis, Thermas del Rey, Fidel Velásquez, and La Vega.

Another reason to visit Tequisquiapan is its wine and cheese production, which is celebrated every year at the National Cheese and Wine Fair. Tequisquiapan is part of the Querétaro Wine Route, which includes other nearby towns such as Ezequiel Montes, Bernal, and Cadereyta.
