As expected, the main dams in Guanajuato are at the lowest levels on record.
In the first week of April, the average storage of the state’s dams is below 20 percent, according to the measurement of the National Water System.
As of April 3, the state’s dams reflect the severity of the drought that the state of Guanajuato and most of the country are facing.
At this same time of year, but in 2023, the average storage levels of the Guanajuato dams were 49 percent.
The report shows that the Solís Dam is the one with the largest storage:
Solís Dam, 63%
La Purísima, 41%
Ignacio Allende, 14%
The Swallow, 13%
Soledad, 7%
Yuriria Lagoon, 6%
El Palote, 2%
Without short-term rain forecasts, the forecast is that for the next few weeks the average of the dams would be 13 to 15 percent.
