Claudia Sheinbaum, virtual president-elect, will meet on Tuesday, June 11th, with “a delegation” from the government of US President Joe Biden in Mexico City.
“On Tuesday we will receive a delegation from President (US, Joe) Biden. Maybe tomorrow we will be giving information about the meeting,” said Sheinbaum in her first press conference at the National Palace as virtual president-elect, without specifying who the members of this US delegation will be.
However, according to well-informed sources, the team would be headed by the White House National Security Advisor Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, who has already traveled to Mexico on several occasions to meet with the current president Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
The meeting with members of the US government will be held at Sheinbaum’s campaign headquarters, located in the Iztapalapa municipality.
Her appearance before the media at the National Palace took place after meeting with López Obrador, to discuss the government transition that will take place on October 1.
Sheinbaum ruled out traveling to the United States before her inauguration.
