While they were placing safety cones to delimit the area and avoid new accidents, the driver of a truck hit and dragged the policeman.
A fatal incident marked the night of Sunday, November 24 on the San Miguel de Allende-Dolores Hidalgo highway, when Vicente Paul RÃos Morales, an experienced member of the State Public Security Forces (FSPE), died after being run over while delimiting an accident zone.
The driver of the truck involved fled the scene, generating an intense search by the authorities.
The events occurred near the La Candelaria community. Vicente, with 21 years of service in the corporation, was assigned along with other agents to attend a traffic accident.
As part of the protection work, they placed safety cones around the area to prevent new accidents.
While the officer was near the established perimeter, a high-speed truck invaded the work area and violently hit him.
According to initial reports, the impact dragged the police officer several meters away. Despite the efforts of his colleagues to help him and request emergency medical help, the paramedics who arrived at the scene could only confirm his death.
After the accident, the driver responsible escaped in the direction of Dolores Hidalgo without stopping to account for the incident. This generated an immediate response from the authorities, who activated an operation to locate him.
The State Attorney General’s Office opened an investigation file and assured that they would use the recordings from surveillance cameras in the area to identify the fugitive.
In addition, agents of the Public Ministry went to the scene to collect evidence and begin the corresponding proceedings. It is expected that in the coming days, progress will be made on the investigation and the possible location of the person responsible.
Officer Vicente Paul RÃos Morales was a prominent member of the FSPE, recognized for his commitment and professionalism in security work. His colleagues deeply regretted his departure, highlighting his daily dedication to guaranteeing security in the state.
The officer’s body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) to perform the legal autopsy and carry out the necessary procedures before handing him over to his family.
