In recent years, Mexican wine has granted great recognition worldwide, and Guanajuato has been positioning itself as one of the most important producers in the country.

According to data from the State Tourism Secretariat, Guanajuato has more than 350 hectares of wine production with 24 types of grapes and 14 vineyards operating.

In the state, more than 100,000 bottles are generated per year from 23 different brands. Although Baja California and Sonora are icons in wine production, 99% of the total Mexican wine production is divided between Queretaro, Zacatecas, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Aguascalientes and Guanajuato.

In this sense, Guanajuato wine industry has become an activity with significant economic growth, which is due to its participation in fairs, festivals and as part of the “Wine Route”.

The “Wine Route” goes from Dolores Hidalgo to San Miguel de Allende, visiting several wineries along the way, where the cultivation of the vine is a tradition.
