Querétaro, Mexico. – Mayor of Colón, Alejandro Ochoa Valencia announced an important event for Colón municipality: “The Race Fair 2016” (La Feria de la Raza).
This celebration will take place from Friday 7 to Sunday 16, October. The organizing committee expects for this edition an influx of 65,000 visitors, generating an economic impact of at least two million pesos (105 thousand USD).
“The purpose of this fair is to highlight what is our Colón municipality, our historic, cultural and artistic legacy, as well as our delicious gastronomy; livestock and horsemanship exhibitions will be part of the celebration as well”. Ochoa Valencia stated.
Ochoa Valencia continued: “we want to showcase that Colon is a modern community, where huge investments, especially in the aerospace cluster, contribute with a relevant economic spill that impacts the whole Bajío region”.
The Mayor noted that during the celebration, a wide array of activities will take place, such as:
- A “Productivity Recognition to the people of Colón” (Reconocimiento a la productividad del campo colonense)
- “Miss chiquitita 2016″, a child beauty pageant
- Oratory competition: “Representing the influential women in the history of Mexico”
- Art exhibition, (Cerillos)
- Gastronomy show, specially promoting the use and consumption of nopal as a super food
- Singing and poetry contest
- Olympics of knowledge
- Job fair, (training course for young entrepreneurs).
This festival will feature musical performers, such as Los Cardenales de Nuevo León, Los Plebes del Rancho, Banda Mach, Liran Roll, Bostik, la Sonora Santanera and la Sonora Dinamita, Bryndis, la Banda Ms, among other “Banda” genre artists.
The Race Fair 2016 (La Feria de la Raza) will take place at “Guevara Javier Salinas” sports complex, located at Colón municipality.
General addmission is 45 pesos (2.30 USD), senior citizens (INAPAM) and children under 1.20 meters tall, free addmission.
