On Monday, October 3rd, Emergency Number (911) became operational in the state of Guanajuato, through both landlines and mobile devices. Guanajuato is one of the first states in the country that operates this code.

However, this emergency number still coexists with the current 066 Emergency Response System, in order to help the population during this transition process. Both numbers will be operational for the next six months, and afterwards, only 911 will be the only emergency number for the whole state.

By January 2017 the caller’s address will be generated automatically as he/she calls 911. This will work for both public and private landlines. And by March 2017 cell phones that use the 911 will be also automatically located, according to the plan established by the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Safety System to provide a more agile service in any emergency situation.

The Executive Secretariat of the National System of Public Security is the agency responsible for leading this transition process, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Security of the State of Guanajuato.

Anonymous Complaints Services (089) against crime and delinquency, as well as the Comprehensive Care for Women (075) will not suffer any change, and are now in full operation under supervision of Guanajuato State Government.

For the application of this new emergency line (911), new protocols regarding security, attention and operations were established. Additionally, the staff of the Emergency Care Call Center of Guanajuato received the proper training in crisis management and other protocols, in order to provide the citizenship with the best possible service.
