Guanajuato will participate in the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) with more than 600 titles from local publishers.
The Guanajuato’s Institute of Culture reported that “Fondo Guanajuato” (Guanajuato Fund) will be featuring more than 35 different activities during the FIL, organized by “Ediciones la Rana”, “University of Guanajuato”, “the MIQ”, as well as more than 10 other independent publishers, that together bring their titles to the country’s largest publishing fair.
The last four years, “Fondo Guanajuato” has been present in the best book fairs in México, such as the International Mining Palace Book Fair, the Zócalo Book Fair, the UG Book Fair, the Monterrey Book Fair, the FENAL (Feria Nacional del Libro) and the FIL in Guadalajara, which is the most important throughout the country.
Finally, many activities will be carried out by the state of Guanajuato, during this celebration, such as:
- The presentation the following titles: “Gallo que no Canta” by Mauricio Miranda y “Quién es Paola Vargas” by Montserrat Campos, are both edited by editorial Ficticia.
- The “Arte y Culturas populares de Guanajuato” magazine will also be presented during this edition of the FIL, as well as the book “Entre fantasmas, brujas y miedo”, that surges as a result of the intense work made through Guanajuato’s State Cultural Insitute “Children Writers Workshop”.
The Guadalajara International Book Fair is not only the most important publishing event in Ibero-America, but it is also an amazing cultural festival. Created 30 years ago by the University of Guadalajara, the Fair hosts editorial companies, professional and amateir wrtiers and it is open to the general public, which makes it different from other book fairs around the globe.
With business as one of its main goals, it is also a cultural festival in which literature plays a major role including a program where authors from all continents and languages participate, and a forum for the academic discussion of the major issues of our time.
For nine days, people from all over the world come to Guadalajara to listen to their favorite authors, the book industry transforms the city in the Mexican epicenter of culture and the whole city is filled with literature, music, arts, cinema and theatre. This yeaar’s Guest of Honor is Latin America.
