According to the Guanajuato’s Secretariat of Tourism, a total of 25 million visitors will travel across the state of Guanajuato by the end of this year.
Fernando Olivera Rocha, the head of that secretariat, mentioned that: “this 2016 has been a good year, regarding the number of visitors, who did not only visit the larger cities, but also the magic towns and other smaller destinations within the state.
“So far, we have received an economic spill of 80 billion pesos (4 billion USD), an unprecedented figure for the tourism industry in the state, with a particularly successful second semester,” Olivera said.

By the end of September, the hotel occupancy in the municipalities of Salamanca, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, and León was already 21% higher than last year.
He also noted that: “in Dolores Hidalgo the number of visitors has doubled in this second semester”.
The State official concluded: “During December, the Festival of Traditional Cuisine and the Holiday Village will take place at the Bicentennial Park, in the City of Guanajuato”.
