Last Weekend (From Friday 10 to Sunday 12 Feb.), police operations and breathalyzer road inspections were carried out at local bars, “cantinas”, and night clubs in the city of Guanajuato.

This operation resulted in one subject arrested, one bar closed, and 150 people inspected for alcohol levels, in which 12 of them, driving under the influence of alcohol, were temporarily taken to “El Torito” by local Police Authorities.

Christian Ortiz Muñiz, Security Director, led the operation along with Andrei García, in charge of  the Audit Department, and Enrique Berumen, Traffic Director.

In the evening of Friday February 10th, the operation started with several businesses being checked for documentation, such as: “Antigua”, “Los Lobos”, “Retro”, “El tapatío”, “Sí, Señor”, “Barrilitos”, “El botanero”, “Bar 11”, and several others in the downtown area.

Afterwards, law enforcement authorities inspected other businesses along the South part of the city, such as “MicheBotanas”, “Zona Cero”, “Búfalo Negro” and “El Dorado”.

When State Police officers arrived to “El Dorado”, in order to carry out the proper inspection, they found a glass pipe, with residues of the drug known as “crystal”.

The person who carried the drugs, was arrested and taken before a court of law.

After the find, Municipal Inspection and Control Department reviewed the establishment’s documentation, determining it was not in order, and therefore “El Dorado” was closed down.

During the Breathalyzer operation carried out by the Traffic Director in “Zona Centro”, 12 people were found “driving while intoxicated”, and therefore were arrested and taken before the proper authorities.
