Miguel Márquez Márquez, Governor of Guanajuato, spoke via telephone with Guadalupe García de Rayos, a immigrant deported on Wednesday February 8th, after she lived more than 20 years in the United States.

Márquez Márquez reiterated his commitment to support García de Rayos, with legal and social incentives, and regretted the events that had deeply affected she and her family.

The governor of Guanajuato declared: “I was also a migrant at some point in time, and I am very sorry to see what Donald Trump is doing, violating international regulations and Law; that’s why our goverment will support Guadalupe and her family”.

Currently, the State government is supporting her during this difficult process through the Guanajuato’s Institute of Attention to Migrants and their Families (Instituto Estatal de Atención a los migrantes y sus familias), along with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores, SRE).

Guadalupe Garcia thanked the governor for his support and agreed to keep communication throughout the process.

The governor instructed the Ministry of Finance, Investment and Administration to increase the resources of the Institute of Attention to Migrants; and announced a tour into United States in the coming months to be close to the “Guanajuato’s countrymen” that are still up there.

Next Saturday, María Ciriaca Guadalupe Aguilar Hernández and Juan García Aguilar, relatives of the deported woman, will travel to Nogales, Sonora, accompanied by State Institute of Attention to Migrants personnel.
