Querétaro officials seek new investors in Japan and Korea

The head of Querétaro’s Secretariat of Sustainable Development (Secretaría de Desarrollo Sustentable, Sedesu), Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero will visit Japan and Korea next week in order to meet with ten Asian firms and look for new investment projects for the state.

Del Petre Tercero said that these are companies in the automotive, food and electrical-electronic sectors that have an interest to invest in Querétaro. He also said that will meet with representatives from Hyundai and Kia.

“I’m going to travel to Japan and Korea, and visit an automotive fair where I’ll give a talk and a seminar about México, regarding the perspectives of Querétaro in the auto parts industry for future,” Del Prete said in an interview.

Del Petre continued: “In Korea we will be visiting the Hyundai and Kia plants, and participate in an automotive fair. Meanwhile, in Japan we will be doing a tour in three companies to seek new business opportunities, and finally in Nagoya we will meet with seven companies”.

He added that on Friday March 30 two new plants will start operations in the state, one from England, and its resources from India, and another one is from Poland; both belong to the automotive sector.

The state official said that “Sedesu participates significantly to bring new companies along the state”, and commented that despite to the slower economic growth in México, Querétaro continues being a benchmark for foreign investment.

“At the end of 2016 the economy features a good figures and the monthly manufacturing index survey reports significant increases in January and February 2017, “double digits”, reflecting the dynamism in Querétaro follows a positive trend, “he said.

The official also indicated that the economic activity in Querétaro has been supported by the progress in the services sector. So, the forecasts for 2017 say that we have a significant progress.

During 2016 we grew around 5 percent, and expect for this year to maintain the same figures because the industrial sector will invest significantly and would be an interesting growth.

The secretary concluded that the importance of working hard in promoting the internal market, boosting business ties through exhibitions and business events, among other actions to generate an important economic impact.
