“There’s a totally renovated garbage collection system in San Miguel de Allende” announced mayor Ricardo Villareal during an event held in the main garden on Monday, October 23.
There are now 64 new containers strategically located throughout the city, new truck compactors and underground containers.
In total, seven four-ton units, four 11-ton trucks and two sweepers, one for the historic center and another for the Periférico, form the new trash collection San Miguel de Allende’s squadron.
“When people, for any reason, can not take out their garbage bags for the truck to pick them up, there will be 64 containers and people can leave them there. All these new trucks compact trash and thus we will spend less fuel and we will reach more corners of the city. These vehicles are the most modern in terms of garbage collection technology; and none of them generate emissions that pollute the environment, ” said Mayor Ricardo Villarreal.
Finally, the mayor informed that San Miguel residents will be notified about the new routes, days and schedules for trash recollection.
“And most importantly, from now on, the garbage collection workers will have labor and legal benefits as well as better conditions and equipment to fulfill their duty,” Villareal concluded.
