One week ago, a 55-year-old tourist was injured by gunshot while she was in the main square of the city.

The woman, whose name was not revealed by the local authorities, is originally from Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, a border twon in the north of Mexico.

As soon as she was injured, she immediately asked for help at the police station located right in San Miguel’s main square, next to the municipal palace.

The emergency center recorded the call for help that the police made at 16:31 hours on Sunday October 15, and requested an ambulance, as the woman was bleeding from her right thigh.

When the paramedics arrived, they determined that the victim was wounded by a 22-caliber gunshot.

The victim was not able to explain how she was injured, she simply said that she heard loud noises that she thought were fire works or fire crackers of some sort, but did not sound like gunshots.

The municipal government confirmed the fact and underlined it as a “stray bullet”.

The case was turned over to the public prosecutor’s office to carry out the corresponding investigation: the woman was reported stable and not in life threatening danger, houra later she was released from the hospital in good health.
