The murder of Jorge Montes González, city councilor and president of the PRI municipal committee in Celaya on Wednesday Jan. 24, shook the Guanajuato society.
Montes was executed at 1:30 PM, in broad daylight, while he was siiting on the driver’s seat of his SUV, parked next to a used cars lot in Celaya, Guanajuato.
The attack was direct. At least four men that were travelling in a van, stopped by Montes’ vehicle, opened the side door and shot the politician point-blank with AK-47 semi-automatic weapons . Montes González died on the spot.
The commotion for this terrible crime spread all over the state. His colleagues from the City Council of Celaya, some with tears in their eyes, accompanied the mayor Ramón Lemus Muñoz Ledo to a meeting with the press.
“It is a cowardly and devious act,” said Lemus
Governor Miguel Márquez lamented the death of Jorge Montes Gonzalez:
“We condemn these criminal acts, and we reiterate that this will not stop or intimidate us, we will continue with the reinforcement of the security corporations,” Márquez said in a statement.
