Mexican filmmaker Alex Rodriguez recently finished filming his short film ‘Esperando al gordo‘ (Waiting for the fat guy), in the city of San Miguel de Allende, with the participation of Mexican actors Joaquín Cosío, Gerardo Taracena and Erik Zavala.
At a press conference, producer Antonio Zavala highlighted that Rodriguez, who has already been nominated for the Oscar Award, is one of the most talented editors in Mexico, and he will be showcasing his talent in this short film.
“Alex is the one who writes and directs this short film; before mere friendship he used to send me his stories and poetry; Now it’s a script that I feel very proud of, ” Zavala said.
In turn, actor Joaquín Cosío declared: “Let’s keep our eyes open, because we have great expectations on this script, it is a 12-minute story full of interesting circumstances that will cause doubts and uncertainties in the audience… making a short film is complicated, in general terms it’s like a small motion picture”.
This short film is about a homage to the literary work ‘Waiting for Godot’, by Samuel Beckett and focuses on the anecdote of three friends who play dominoes while waiting for a fourth player, that inexplicably never arrives.
Alex Rodríguez, who has worked with Alfonso Cuarón on several occasions along his career, pointed out that this work is a premise for a feature film he is working on, and the story takes place in the year 1913.
