In the last edition of SAPICA, the annual International Footwear and Leather Fair in León Guanajuato, that took place on March this year, visitors could find a wide variety of shoes, boots, sandals, slippers, for women, men and children, as well as handbags, travel bags, briefcases, belts or clothing made of leather.
A total of 7.8 billion US dollars were recorded in different business transactions achieved between 90 national and foreign companies through the so-called “International Buyers Program”.
According to Jacob Torres, head of COFOCE leather-footwear association, 10% of these 90 companies are new exporters.
In this year’s edition, 30 countries, 2,000 stands and 2,986 companies participated.
Countries such as the United States, Costa Rica, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Panama and Nicaragua, who over the course of 3 days developed business appointments, visits to companies’ facilities that generated business
The report of COFOCE projects that in the medium and long term the transactions can sum up to 11.4 billion US dollars.
