A truck that was reported as broken down in the middle of the road, gave off a strong smell of fuel. Fire fighters came to the scene and detected that large quantities of diesel were coming out of the vehicle, so the area was cordoned off and the Public Prosecutor was notified.

The truck was located on Del Bordo Avenue, in the Colonia Palmita de Landeta, right next to the Cloutier Park in the municipality of San Miguel de Allende.

After the report to the 911 Emergency System, San Miguel firefighters arrived and determined that the truck was actually leaking large quantities of fuel, so they requested the presence of the municipal police, since there was a suspicion that it was loaded with stolen fuel.

Municipal police arrived at the site and guarded the area waiting for the arrival of personnel from the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The driver of the truck fled the scene before the police arrived.

So far it has not been confirmed by local authorities if it was a huachicolero; it will be the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will confirm this fact.
