During a press conference offered by representatives of the Morena political party and ‘Red Sanmiguelenses somos‘, it was announced that during the last elections the legality was not obeyed with transparency or certainty, therefore five resources were filed with documented evidence to contest the election.

On the other hand Concepción Guerrero, representative of Morena, said that they will challenge the election because they have the necessary evidence to prove there was a fraud, however the resolution of the Electoral Tribunal of the State of Guanajuato is expected on August 18.

The substitute legal representative of the independent party ‘Red Sanmiguelenses Somos‘, Eva Camacho, said that such challenge will be defined by the Electoral Court of this state before October 10, otherwise the candidate elect can not take protest as mayor from this city.

They mentioned that this challenge is supported by Morena and the independent candidates who do not agree with the results of the last electoral elections held in this city.

In San Miguel de Allende the candidate who allegedly received the confirmation of majority was Luis Alberto Villarreal, of the National Action Party PAN, with 34% of the total votes. Luis Alberto is brother of the former mayor Ricardo Villarreal.
