Mexico’s Secretary of the Interior, Olga Sanchez Cordero, highlighted the properties of marijuana produced in Mexico, which she described as “one of the best quality in the world.”

During her participation in the television program John & Sabina, broadcast on Canal Once this Tuesday May 14th, the official emphasized the important use that our ancestors gave in their rituals, to plants such as peyote and mushrooms.

In the same way, she reiterated that the government will seek to regulate the production, marketing and leisure consumption of this plant but slowly because “we must give time to most of the Mexican states… It is not the same situation in Mexico City than in Guanajuato, for example” , she claimed.

Cordero has publicly opted, on several occasions, in favor of the recreational use of marijuana, the decriminalization of poppy, abortion and the law of anticipated will.

In July of 2018, in statements that were collected by Reuters, the official assured that the poppy is bought by many pharmaceutical companies because they need it to produce morphine, so she struggled for its legalization and asserted that López Obrador was open to the idea.

In the same way, Cordero declared that if “marijuana has been already decriminalized in Canada and in several states of the United States, what are we waiting for here in Mexico? Are we going to continue killing each other when in other countries they have legalized it? We need to move forward in this sense. ”
