Guanajuato.- The Municipal System of Drinking Water and Sewerage of Guanajuato (Sistema municipal de Agua potable y alcantarillado de Guanajuato: Simapag) inaugurated the new Water School ‘Habitat H2O’ (Escuela del Agua “Habitat H2O”) in which 4 million pesos were invested and aims to promote a “water care culture” and preservation among Guanajuato’s children.
“It is the first school of its kind in all of Mexico and features showrooms, a screening room, a computer room, administrative areas and a warehouse,” said the president of Simapag, Juan Sebastián Ávila Victoria. “In this space children will be able to enjoy tours and exhibitions on various topics related to water”, he added.
Guanajuato mayor Alejandro Navarro Saldaña, who attended the inauguration, reported that at this moment, the dam of La Soledad is practically empty and La Esperanza dam is at 70% of its capacity, so it is being currently analyzed to use water from the battery of Puentecillas wells to supply the downtwon area of the state capital.
The water school is located on the private Escalera number 30, in the area of Dos Ríos, Guanajuato, Gto.
