For the Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) in its 22nd edition it was a pleasure to announce the presence of Nicolas Cage, one of the American actors who helped to set the direction of the film industry during the 80s and 90s, and an amazingly talented artist who has found a way to remain as one of the best for more than three decades.
Mr. Cage has always being in a constant creative evolution that has led him to experiment through different film genres and to create all kinds of diverse characters to which he usually injects them some himself, making them stay forever in the collective mind.
Nicholas Kim Coppola had an approach to cinema and the arts in general, as well as to literature, from a very early age. He has declared to be influenced by prominent artists in several different types of art forms such as Edgar Allan Poe in literature, James Dean in acting or Jack Kirby in the world of comics.
In 1976 he moved to San Francisco CA, where he began acting in the American Conservatory Theater company. In 1982 he made his film debut with Fast Times at Ridgemont High and from that moment the rest is history.
An artist in every sense of the word, passionate about acting, creator and master of his own acting method, as well as a comic book enthusiast – his stage name was inspired by Marvel Comics superhero Luke Cage and he actually has a son named Kal-El( the real name of Superman), all this and much more is what the name Nicolas Cage means to the modern cinematographic industry, and he will be honored at GIFF 2019.
