In AMLO’s homestate of Tabasco, a group of armed men attacked the “Doña Rosa” bar on the night of September 15th, leaving five people dead and three injured, who were transferred to a hospital in the City of Villahermosa.

The bar is located in the Ranchería de Rio Tinto, a community that belongs to the municipality of Centro Tabasco, and like most of this type of establishments, it opened early to celebrate the national holidays.

It was around around 6 pm, when people with firearms entered the place and opened fire leaving five dead. Locals immediately gave notice to the Secretary of Public Safety and Protection, who set up a search operation to find those responsible.

The three injured were taken to hospitals in the state capital, while the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) went to the building to begin the removal of the bodies that will be handed over to their families.

The Rio Tinto Ranchería is located only 15 kilometers (9 miles) from the state capital Villahermosa, and is the first time that it suffers an attack of this magnitude. The bar was regularly attended by residents of the same community or from others located nearby.

Agents of the Ministry of Security and the National Guard are working in a coordinated manner to find those responsible. The Villahermosa – Reforma highway was closed and check points set up in different parts along the city of Villahermosa, however, no arrests have been made so far in relation to this crime.

These events did not alter the agenda of the state governor, Adán Augusto López Hernández, who in the company of his officials celebrated the Grito de Independencia, in front of the Villahermosa Government Palace.
