Arkansas State University announced a change of leadership for Campus Queretaro as Dr. David Ray stepped down as vice rector and Dr. Thilla Sivakumaran has taken over in an interim capacity.
Ray joined ASUCQ in September 2018, and retired from his position in December 2019.
Sivakumaran, executive director of A-State’s Global Engagement and Outreach division, will serve as the interim vice rector while a search for a permanent vice rector is underway.
“David is a great friend and I deeply appreciate what he has done for our faculty, staff, and students at Campus Queretaro,” Damphousse said. “I appreciate Thilla’s willingness to provide leadership during this time of transition.”
A Yale graduate with his Ph.D. from Stanford, Ray was the dean of the Joe C. and Carole Kerr McClendon Honors College at the University of Oklahoma. Retiring from OU in 2017, Ray was a resident of Mexico before joining A-State at Queretaro.
The vice rector position at Campus Queretaro provides oversight on academic programs for the Mexico campus. Sivakumaran will lead the ASUCQ academic mission by making monthly visits to the campus and by engaging virtually with Queretaro faculty and leadership on a weekly basis.
