SMA Police detains two men in possession of drugs, long weapons, and ammo

San Miguel de Allende (April 4, 2021).- Derived from ground-to-air patrol operations, the State Public Security Secretariat in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office and the support of federal authorities, achieved the detention of two men in possession of long weapons, hundreds of cartridges, tactical equipment, more than a thousand doses of drugs, radio communication equipment, and vehicles.

The detainees respond to the names of 32-year-old Roberto “N”, originally from San Miguel de Allende, who has records of administrative arrest for drug use on the public highway; and Luis ‘N’, 26, a resident of this city, who has records of arrests for possession of a firearm and driving motor vehicles with theft reports. In these actions, they had the support of helicopters equipped with surveillance technology.

These events were recorded in the vicinity of the Loma Bonita neighborhood, where members of the FSPE Tourist Police Unit, during their patrol and surveillance tours, detected two men aboard a motorcycle and a vehicle, who upon noticing the police presence descended from them and began to run.

For this reason, through the use of technology and the overflights of the SSPEG helicopters, their location was achieved and they were stopped from the ground to finally be secured in the same area where they were detected from the air.

After a preventive search, they were seized a long firearm, caliber 9 mm. And a long firearm, caliber 7.62, in addition to magazines for long weapons and a magazine for short weapons.

In total, there were 373 complete 7.62 caliber cartridges in addition to 27 .223 caliber cartridges and 12 9mm caliber cartridges, among the tactical equipment that was seized from them are two ballistic vests, two pairs of tactical boots, three magazine holders, a forniture and a ballistic helmet.

They also brought with them 931 doses of crystal, 130 doses of base stone, and 1,000 stickers with the legend of a criminal group. They also had radio communication equipment, two communication radios, a cell phone.

They also seized a 1998 Volkswagen Golf, and a stolen Yamaha brand motorcycle, 2017 model, white color without a license plate. The motorcycle had a theft report dated October 14, 2020, in the municipality of San Miguel De Allende.

The detainees, weapons, cartridges, drugs, tactical equipment, and vehicles were placed at the disposal of the competent authority.
