Guanajuato.- The secretary-general of the PRI State Committee, Alejandro Arias Ávila said that they trust that Mauricio Trejo Pureco will take office as mayor of San Miguel de Allende on October 10, after the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation determined that the National Electoral Institute (INE) should continue with the investigation of the PRI campaign expenses, as it has not carried out an exhaustive review.
“We have full confidence that this result will not move, that Mauricio will take a protest as municipal president on October 10. After this challenging process, we believe that in the end, Mauricio is going to be municipal president of San Miguel of Allende,” Arias Avila said.
This stems from the complaint filed by the PAN accusing Mauricio Trejo of spending more resources than he reported during his electoral campaign before the INE’s Comprehensive Inspection System, a situation that has been repeatedly denied by the PRI’s CDE.
He stated that in the first opinion issued by the INE it was determined that there was no crime to prosecute, however, the resolution was revoked by the general counsel of the electoral body, ordering that it continue with the investigation and issue a new resolution within the term of five calendar days.
“The INE can carry out an exhaustive analysis and reissue another resolution on the matter and publish it and the National Action Party can once again disagree with that decision, the limit is the 9th of October, and then we will see who is right and who is wrong,” Arias Avila concluded.
