April and May, the most violent months in León, Guanajuato so far in 2022

The months of April and May had been the most violent months in León due to the ongoing rise in violence there.

León, Guanajuato.- June saw the closure of 55 intentional killings. As a result, the first half of 2022 is expected to see April and May as the months with the highest numbers of homicides in León.

June was not exempt from the finding of dead victims shrouded in bags or blankets, just like the previous months. The majority of criminal groups are committing these atrocities on a daily basis.

Lomas de Medina, one of the most violent neighborhoods in Leon, is the location of at least seven documented executions. In a ravine, they discovered the victims either buried or in a decomposing state.

Two minors were killed in armed attacks, the first on June 7 while receiving medical attention. Manuel, only 14 years old, and his mother were shot to death. Manuel survived the shooting but passed away in the hospital.

In another event, a 15-year-old kid was killed on the night of June 29th when armed men entered a home in the Villas de San Nicolas neighborhood and opened fire on the people inside.

The afternoon of Monday, July 27, saw more violence in León directed at civilians. Jorge Ulises, the son of Rosario Zavala, who had previously been murdered, was slain by armed men in the second sector of the Villas de San Nicolas area.

April has been the most violent month in Leon so far this year

With 72 executions, April has been the most violent month, followed by March (62), June (55), February (42), and January (41).

So far this year, a total of 351 executions have been reported in León. As a result, the present administration, which Alejandra Gutiérrez took over on October 10th, 2021 has amassed 457 cases of intentional homicide.

Villas de San Nicolas had the greatest rate of violent crime, with two individuals being killed and six others injured. Brisas del Campestre also registered four dead bodies discovered there. Lomas de Medina had five findings, and the communities of Arboledas de Los López and Santa Ana del Conde each registered four dead bodies found.
