One of these is the Hotel Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, whose 67 rooms and suites are said to “represent the rich colonial legacy and charming atmosphere of this cosmopolitan city where art and culture are found on every corner you stroll by.”

In this location, a colonial room with two beds may cost between 13,000 and 16,000 pesos per night.

“Offering luxurious lodging for a season in San Miguel de Allende, these warm yet roomy apartments reflect a beautifully designed hacienda. San Miguel de Allende, which has a total of 69 five-star hotels, is the municipality in Guanajuato with the most of these establishments, followed by the capital, Guanajuato, which has 26.

There are nine five-star hotels in cities like León, two in Celaya, and two in Irapuato.

Guanajuato welcomed 4.7 million visitors in the first quarter of 2022, bringing in an estimated 9 billion pesos in an economic spill.

San Miguel de Allende hotelier Eduardo Bujaidar claims that five-star hotels sell an idea rather than a room.

He made the argument that the municipality’s hotel rooms are more expensive due to the specific visitor profile.

“You’re discussing a notion. You have to pay for the glitz. The mattresses and the water you use for bathing are the things there that are least valuable. In San Miguel de Allende, the surroundings and concept are what you get for your money rather than the actual room,” Eduardo Bujaidar said.
