Following the strategy established by Municipal President Mauricio Trejo, San Miguel de Allende was positioned as the favorite destination for European and Spanish tourists.

As a protagonist in Madrid, during the FITUR 2023 International Tourism Fair, San Miguel de Allende was promoted as an international tourist destination, highlighting its segmented offer of different guilds that have made it ‘The Best Small City in the World’, by making Spain.

“We have seen a high demand in Spain in recent months and, at the same time, an upward trend as the main option for Spanish vacations during this 2023,” said Tania Castillo, municipal tourism director, who stressed that Spain is the third country that most visits San Miguel de Allende, behind the United States and Colombia.

FITUR 2023

By having an exclusive space, the municipal stand of San Miguel de Allende had the largest presence of the entire fair, during January 18, 19 and 20 in the capital of Spain, by offering representative craft and gastronomic experiences, an event of gala and an intense tourist promotion with influencers and international press.

San Miguel, as a Mexican city, installed in The Social Hub , in Plaza España, a photo-opportunity simulating an old Mexican door decorated with natural multicolored flowers, to delight tourists, who shared their snapshots on social networks.

During the first day of FITUR 2023, San Miguel de Allende offered a cocktail with Mexican Heritage Cities at the headquarters of Casa de México in Europe, which was inaugurated by the Secretary of Federal Tourism, Miguel Torruco, accompanied by several mayors and secretaries from different cities. participants.

 

San Miguel’s unique crafts

Within the framework of said cocktail, each Heritage City presented its destination and there was a craft sample with unique pieces, mainly wool and brass, handmade by the talented families of San Miguel.

The San Miguel agenda also focused on international promotion and particularly towards Spanish tourism, through a cocktail at The Social Hub for special guests and representatives of the Madrid media focused on the dissemination of economic content and international tourism, through radio programs and publications on digital portals.

In this event they learned about the tourist benefits of San Miguel de Allende, with the purpose of creating new audiences through their social networks, by promoting them on their next trip.
